Weaving the Landscape
2nd annual workshop successful and fun for all
The 2nd annual Weave the Landscape workshop on Monhegan Island, Maine, was so much fun!
From Sept. 21-25, 2026, students wove on two 4-harness floor looms, with one on one instruction from Kathy, and designed beautiful pieces to bring home. One of the looms was also used for "community weaving," and anyone who stopped by and was interested, could weave a stretch of cloth.
The Trunk Show was enjoyed by shoppers on Wednesday evening, and Melanie's amazing desserts via Nite, Nite Fatty's, were a big hit. Think rich chocolate cake with raspberry buttercream frosting and berries in every layer, and gluten free olive oil cake that melted in one's mouth. Kathy's vests, ponchos, scarves and shawls went home with many island visitors, some of whom were there for birding and painting workshops.
Students brought home table runners and table squares inspired by their time on the island, and several hope to return again! All loved Monhegan Island for its natural beauty, slower pace of life and friendly folks all around.
Watch for the 2027 workshop flyer ... coming soon! We'd love to see you on island!
